Eyevinn Live Encoding
Point OBS at a URL and stream adaptive HLS to a browser
An open-source (MIT) live encoder built on ffmpeg. Send RTMP from OBS and get a two-rendition HLS stream that plays in any browser. Run it yourself, or create it on Open Source Cloud, where the only required setting is a name and no code is needed.
Hi Product Hunt, I'm Simon from Eyevinn. We build open-source video tools, and this one solves a small, annoying problem: you have OBS running and you want people to watch in a browser without building a streaming backend first.
Eyevinn Live Encoding takes your RTMP feed and turns it into an adaptive HLS stream with two renditions, 720p and 360p. The code is MIT licensed on GitHub (github.com/Eyevinn/live-encoding) and runs on your own machine. If you would rather not run a server, it is also a managed service on Open Source Cloud. You give the instance a name, paste the RTMP address into OBS, and share the playback link. Try it here:
https://app.osaas.io/?utm_source...
Two honest notes. A new instance can say it is ready a minute before its certificate is, so if the first try fails, try again. And because it encodes all the time it is the heavy end of our catalog: the free tier covers a day or two of testing, and continuous streaming needs a paid plan.
I'd love to hear what you would stream with it, and what settings you would want by default.
