I kept hitting the same wall: text trapped inside a screenshot, a scanned page, a photo of a slide — and no way to just copy it. Retyping it by hand every time got old fast.
So I built Extract Text from Image. Highlight any image in your browser, and it pulls the text out in one click. Two things I cared about:
1. It runs the OCR on your device — your images are never uploaded to any server. Nothing to trust me on, the network tab stays quiet.
2. No account, no paywall, no "3 free scans then pay". Just install and use it.
Copy the result or save it as .txt. It handles JPG, PNG, screenshots and many languages.
