Here's the honest story of why I built ExpensePal.
A few months ago I got a salary bump. Nothing crazy but decent. I was happy for about a week.
Then I looked at my bank balance and felt exactly the same as before. Maybe worse.
I opened every expense app I could find. Walnut. Money Manager. YNAB. They all showed me the same thing - a list of transactions. Categories. Pie charts.
But none of them answered the question I actually had: am I getting ahead or slowly falling behind?
That's when I realized the problem wasn't my spending habits. It was inflation silently eating my purchasing power every single month and no app was showing me that number.
So I built ExpensePal.
I started with just expense tracking. Then added the inflation score. Then the stability index. Then AI advice, SMS scanning, EMI tracking, bill splitting, leaderboards, streaks.
Every feature came from a real frustration either mine or someone I know.
The approach evolved a lot. I originally wanted to build something minimal. But users kept asking "can it also do this?" So I kept adding while making sure nothing felt bloated.
