Why I Built EveryCentCalc With AI and No Traditional Coding
Hi everyone! 👋
I built EveryCentCalc after repeatedly seeing freelancers and side hustlers struggle with simple financial questions.
How much should I set aside for taxes? Did I actually make money from that Etsy order? How much am I really spending on rent? Questions that should take a few seconds often turn into spreadsheets, complicated accounting software, or services asking for access to your bank account.
I wanted to build something simpler.
EveryCentCalc is a free collection of 100+ financial calculators designed to give you useful answers quickly, without requiring your financial data to be uploaded.
The part I’m most interested in, though, is how it was built.
I built the project using OpenCode and AI, without traditional programming experience. I wanted to test how far an AI first development workflow could take me when building and launching a real product.
I’m also documenting the entire journey publicly, including the mistakes, experiments, traffic, revenue, and my attempts to monetize the project with Adsterra native and social ads.
The goal isn’t to pretend AI makes building software effortless. I’m trying to find out what’s actually possible when you combine AI tools with persistence, testing, and a willingness to ship.
The site is free and privacy focused, with calculations performed locally in the browser.
I’d genuinely love some brutal feedback:

• What would make you come back and use the site again?
