Hey Product Hunt - I'm Avri, founder of Eval-X.
Quick version of why this exists:
I spent 3 years as CTO at LSports, scaling from 15 to 120 engineers across 5 offices. I personally ran over 1,000 technical interviews. I had a system - problem decomposition, architecture reasoning, code quality signals. It worked.
Then AI changed everything.
By mid-2024, I started noticing something off. Candidates were producing near-perfect solutions but couldn't explain basic design decisions. Take-home tests came back pristine - clearly AI-generated. LeetCode scores meant nothing when ChatGPT solves any problem in seconds.
I talked to 20+ CTOs. Every single one said some version of: "We're making $150K+ hiring decisions on gut feeling because our signals don't work anymore."
So I built Eval-X. Here's how it works:
1. Candidates get a browser-based IDE with real AI tools - Claude, GPT-4o, Gemini. No restrictions, no tricks. Use whatever you'd use at work.
2. We record everything: every prompt to the AI, every code edit, every pause, every backspace, every pivot. Not to catch cheating - to understand thinking.
3. Our analysis engine evaluates across multiple dimensions: How did they frame the problem? How did they use AI - as a crutch or as a tool? Did they make architectural choices or just optimize what the AI gave them? Can they explain and defend their work?
The result is an evidence-based evaluation of how engineers actually work. Not a pass/fail score on a puzzle that's been solved a million times.
