I'm Tonil — a solo developer building Euthynos, an open-source code intelligence engine for AI coding agents.
I got tired of asking my agent:
“What breaks if I change this function?”
It would read a few files, give me a confident answer, and sometimes give me a different answer the next time.
So I built something that doesn't guess.
What Euthynos can answer
Who calls this function?
What does this change affect?
Which tests are relevant?
Where does similar logic already exist?
What's the shortest path between two functions?
Instead of asking an LLM to figure out repository structure from scratch, Euthynos builds that structural understanding locally and exposes it to your coding agent through MCP.
Why I built it this way
Deterministic — no LLM calls for the analysis.
Local — the query path works without an account, API key, or network connection.
Read-only — Euthynos analyzes your repository; it doesn't modify it.
Honest — when static analysis can't know something, it tells you.
For example, a blast-radius result can explicitly say:
“lower bound — dynamic dispatch is invisible to static analysis”
I'd rather give you an honest lower bound than a confident wrong answer.
The research
I preregistered a benchmark with sealed splits and blind hand-grading.
On the 3 fully measured tasks, Euthynos achieved the same recall while using 13–31% fewer tokens.
Two tasks went unmeasured and 21 of 42 sessions were invalid. I published those limitations too.
That's the standard I want Euthynos to follow: publish what worked, publish what didn't, and don't turn an experiment into a marketing number.
