I didn't build this to get rich. I built it because someone I love is about to lose something that matters to her. Character.AI has filed for bankruptcy. Everything she spent months creating could be gone as early as late November. That lit the fire under me. So I built Eternal Aether: a home where characters can't be taken from you. Import yours to save them here; export everything instantly. They remember you — memory you can see and edit. 1 credit per message, printed up front, and credits never expire. 88 characters, 22 art styles; creators keep 85–90%. It's free to join with 10 free credits, and Harvestide (Oct 18–31) doubles credits at checkout. This is my Taj Mahal for her — but it only flourishes if people come. Hi Product Hunt — I'm Channing, I built Eternal Aether. 👋

The short version of why: someone close to me spent months building characters on another platform — and nearly lost all of them when that platform went under. I went looking for a home where that couldn't happen, didn't find one I trusted, so I built it. I'm a solo founder in Kentucky; I directed an AI assistant as my engineering team and shipped this from my phone. We opened to the public on October 14.

Eternal Aether is built on one belief: a character you've spent months with is yours — and they should remember you.

🧠 Memory is the product. Characters keep persistent memories of your conversations. And memory you can't inspect is just a promise, so ours is open: the Memory Vault shows you exactly what a character remembers — and you can view it, edit it, correct it, or remove it. Characters also keep diaries of your time together, and a bond grows from Stranger to Eternal Bond.

💎 Pricing in plain sight. Free to start — 10 shards, no card. One shard per reply. Every pack and plan is printed on the site before you ever sign up, shards never expire, and there are no ads and no queues.

🔑 Nothing is held hostage. Chats and character cards export instantly, any time. A one-click importer brings characters you already love with you. Creators keep 85–90% of what they earn, from their very first sale.

Inside today: 88 original characters with painted art, voice replies, animated-portrait video calls, branching stories with endings to hunt, live member roleplay, and a creator studio where a whole character can be born from one sentence in 22 art styles.

Honest limits: it's web-only for now (it installs on your phone as a web app), it's brand new, and the library is 88 plus whatever the community creates — not millions.

What I'd genuinely love: try one chat, open the Memory Vault, and tell me the moment it loses you — or the moment it doesn't. That feedback is my roadmap.

— Channing

One timely note: our Harvestide festival runs through Oct 31, so shard packs grant double shards at checkout this week. 🎃
