Ente is awesome. Using it for my photos for a while and now also using Auth. New app is super easy to use, free, and secure.

Recently looked into Ente Auth ( saw you all were recommended by PrivacyGuides) the only thing holding me back is lack of Apple Watch support. Is that planned?

Congrats on the launch to @vishnukvmd @neeraj_ente and the entire Ente team! 🎉 It's clear you've put a lot of thought into creating a privacy-first solution for photo and file storage. In a world where data breaches are increasingly common, having end-to-end encrypted storage like Ente offers a strong sense of security for users who value privacy. The focus on making privacy accessible without compromising usability is commendable! A couple of questions I had about your roadmap and vision for the product: 1.Expansion into video storage: Are there plans to expand your encrypted services to include videos or larger file formats, as these are becoming more integral to personal and business use? What kind of challenges do you foresee with encrypted video hosting in terms of scalability or bandwidth, and how do you plan to address them? 2.Backup and recovery mechanisms: Given that privacy is a key concern for your user base, how do you plan to approach backup and recovery systems in a way that doesn’t compromise encryption or give third-party access? Are there any innovative methods you're exploring in this area? Now, onto some constructive feedback: I love how simple and clean your interface is—there’s an elegance in its minimalism. That said, I noticed the onboarding process could be streamlined further. For instance, new users might appreciate more guided tutorials or tooltips explaining how to leverage key features like sharing encrypted files with non-users. This can help reduce friction for those who are new to encrypted storage. Suggestion: 1. Consider adding an interactive walkthrough on first login or contextual help pop-ups during key actions to help users get familiar with the platform quickly. This small change might lead to higher engagement and retention, especially among users who are transitioning from less secure platforms. 2. Additionally, I noticed there's no live chat support option on the site. Implementing a customer support chatbot could help users get instant answers to common questions and improve their experience, especially for troubleshooting or understanding features. It would reduce wait times and make support more accessible. All in all, you've built something truly valuable with Ente, and I’m excited to see how it grows! 🙌

Vishnu, is there a TestFlight version of any of Ente’s iOS apps? Would love to get some pre-releases!

Well done. Ente products are becoming an essential obvious choice for the most offerings they have.

Great app, I switched from Authy and I don't regret it. Only thing I miss compared to Authy is a Raycast extension that allows to quickly copy 2FA code to clipboard with a simple Raycast command.

I absolutely love it. I'm using this asking with 1password and it's a power combo

Huge fan of Ente Auth. Ever since Authy killed their desktop app, I've been using Auth to store my 2FA codes. Earlier I used to manage to install Authy on my MacBook using the App Store (iPhone version), but now it’s unavailable too. Great UX, fully open source, amazing devs and best of all, free backups! Thanks for building it!

Congratulations on the launch @vishnukvmd. It's fantastic to see an open-source authenticator app with such a wide range of features and platforms.

Really well built and available across devices. Moved all my 2FA to Ente Auth a few weeks back and everything works better than expected. Just realized that there's a "share" feature to send codes temporarily to someone - this is going to be super useful. Thanks team Ente!

It's exciting to see a secure, open-source 2FA app that's truly cross-platform. The end-to-end encrypted backups and ability to organize and share codes are game-changers for 2FA users. Kudos to the team for making security accessible and for being recommended by respected organizations like CERN and LinusTechTips. Looking forward to seeing how this evolves. Keep up the great work!

We’ve been using Ente Auth for a while at Requestly. Very happy with the features and level of polish. Backups are great, we no longer have to worry about losing our devices and getting locked out of our accounts. The ability to share codes for a brief amount of time looks amazing, will try that out as well!

@vishnukvmd Thank you for the great app. Can you consider adding an option to share auth with an email ID or for a longer period?

Simply the best alternative for Authy especially after they sunsetted their desktop app.

Hello PH! 👋 A few years ago we wanted an Authenticator app with backups, so we could stop worrying about losing our secrets. We couldn’t find an Open Source solution that was available on all devices, so we built one. Thanks to community feedback the product has evolved a lot - leading to recommendations from the likes of CERN, Italian Nuclear Institute, LinusTechTips, Privacy Guides, Techlore and more! Now we’re excited to launch v4.0 of Ente Auth on Product Hunt! 🚀 Highlights: - Apps for Android, iOS, Linux, Mac, Windows and Web - Free end-to-end encrypted backups - Organize and pin codes - Attach encrypted notes - Share codes w/ auto-expiring links - View the next code, before the current code expires - Additional security with app lock, passkeys and hardware keys - Full data portability - Offline mode - Import from Authy, Google Authenticator, Aegis, Ravio, LastPass, Bitwarden and more The service is being offered free of cost in an attempt to make security accessible. Also, Ente is fully open source, so you can run Ente on your own servers if you wish. Please check out the product, we'd be grateful for any feedback!
