I am JP, and I built Einfall.
I get a lot of thoughts during the day, and after capturing them across various apps, voice notes, notebooks, and pieces of paper, I created Einfall to catch all of these thoughts into one trusted place, as fast as possible, on whatever device I had with me.
And yes, this is not the first app to do this, but I couldn't find something that ticked all the boxes I was looking for, so I created my vision. The hardest decisions were about what to leave out. With AI agents, you could add every feature you could think of, but I deliberately decided to leave out folders, a scripting language, engagement mechanics, unread counts, and actions that require a running server to process your thought into another service. It's a flat stream that holds your thought until you have decided what to do with it, even if the decision is that it should be deleted as you no longer have use for it.
You can send thoughts to Reminders, Calendar, a file (hello, Obsidian daily-note people), a Shortcut, or your own AI agent through a small MCP server that runs locally on your Mac.

I used building it as a challenge to learn Swift and see how it links to the paradigms from my day job as a developer using Python, PySpark and Angular. Claude Code was my teacher on the code side, but the judgment calls stayed mine.

the omission list is the actual product here @jpmarais . leaving out folders is the brave one imo, becuase the second you add folders capture stops being capture and turns into filing, and filing is exactly the thing nobody does at 2am. how long did you hold that line before someone asked for them!
Half my blog posts start as a note in whatever app was open, then I lose track of which one. Which route do you actually use most yourself?
