Easel
Easel: open-source macOS workspace for AI prototyping
Easel is a Codex-first macOS workspace for AI-assisted product design and frontend iteration. It brings a local project library, design-system setup, a live web preview with a point-and-click inspector, and slide tooling together in one native SwiftUI app.
I built Easel after using Claude Design and wanting a native, open-source alternative that wasn't tied to a single provider.I built Easel after using Claude Design and wanting a native, open-source alternative that wasn't tied to a single provider. The idea was simple: bring AI-assisted product design and frontend iteration into one real Mac app, starting with Claude and Codex, with local model support on the way.
The approach has been to keep it genuinely native — SwiftUI, a local project library, design-system setup, a live web preview with a point-and-click inspector, and slide tooling all in one place — rather than wrapping a web app. From here it'll evolve gradually: more model providers, more features, and a steady push toward making Easel the best open-source Mac app for design prototypes.
