Hey Product Hunt community! 👋I’m thrilled to introduce Dwelns to you all today!What inspired us & the problem we're solvingFinding reliable short-term lodging in emerging markets like Nigeria has historically been a gamble. Guests routinely face two massive headaches: rental scams (fake photos/phantom listings) and unreliable infrastructure (sudden power outages or poor security). Hotels are expensive, and traditional platforms don't vet heavily enough for local realities. We built Dwelns to change that. We are creating a marketplace where trust is guaranteed through deep verification and secure escrow.How our approach evolvedInitially, we thought just building a pretty directory of apartments would be enough. But as we spoke to early users, we realized the core problem wasn't a lack of beautiful spaces—it was a lack of trust and infrastructure.Because of this, our process completely shifted. We pivoted to heavily focus on:Mandatory Identity Vetting: Moving from automated signups to physical and documentary verification of hosts.The Dwelns Escrow System: Changing our payment flow so host payouts are completely held back until the guest physically steps into the apartment and verifies it matches the listing.Infrastructure-First Filters: Prioritizing filters for guaranteed 24/7 power, back-up generators, and gated security over just aesthetic filters.We are incredibly excited to open this up to a wider global audience today.
