Your transactional email, sent from Canada. Duva sends your application's emails through an API: one key per domain, your own DKIM signature, and tracking of every delivery, recipient by recipient.
Duva is a transactional email service (password resets, receipts, alerts) with an HTTP API, hosted in Canada, and it's meant for Canadian developers and businesses who want their email infrastructure and data to stay here.
Why I built it: most transactional email services are American. If you work under Québec's Law 25 or care about where your customers' data lives, it's useful to have an option hosted in Canada, with terms and an interface in French and English. I run it as a single developer.
How it works: you add a domain, publish DKIM and a return-path CNAME, and send with POST /v1/{domain}/messages using an API key scoped to one domain. A few details I care about:
- One copy per recipient, with a signed VERP address, so bounces and complaints are matched to the right message.
- Idempotency keys, per-domain API keys with optional expiry, and signed webhooks.
- Official client libraries for Node.js, Python, Ruby, Go and PHP. The OpenAPI spec and conformance test fixtures are public.
- A free sandbox so you can try it without a card.
What it doesn't have yet: an SMTP relay, templates, inbound email, or dedicated IPs. It's transactional only — no newsletters.
I won't claim anything about deliverability numbers; it's young and I'd rather you test it with your own traffic. I'd really like feedback on the API, the docs, and what you'd need before moving a real workload.
