Hey everyone, I'm Michael. Back again with another exciting launch!! 👋 Introducing Dumb Phone - an app that transforms your iPhone into a minimalist style phone. ☎️ After I launched focusedOS last month, which hides all distractions on Mac with one click, I'm bringing that same vibe to iOS with Dumb Phone. It will swap out flashy icons & colors with a sleek and minimal Home Screen that helps you avoid easy distractions and dopamine hits. 🚨 I've been using this every day for the last month and my screen time has nosedived. When I pick my phone I don't open random things anymore and it has completely changed how I interact with it. Here's a few key things it does: 👉 simplify the home screen; replace colorful app icons, wallpapers, and pesky notification badges with simple text buttons 👉 quick app access; select essential apps that you frequently access so they’re always a tap away 👉 style your new home screen; choose from a Dark or Light theme, the text font, size, positioning, color There's more, such as shortcuts support for adjusting which apps are displayed so you can tie this in with any automations. Try it out for yourself, add the apps that you use most of the time, and let me know what you think! I've tried to include many popular + indie apps so you can easily add them to your new Home Screen. 😊 It's free to use with a trial period, has a lifetime option to perpetually upgrade, which you can upgrade at the big existing discount to celebrate this launch. I am especially excited to launch Dumb Phone on Product Hunt today after the incredible feedback it's received on Twitter the past 48 hours. 👉 https://x.com/michael_tigas/stat... Drop a comment below if you have any questions or feedback and I'll get back to y'all. Thank you so much! 🙏 🚀 PS: If you have an Android phone, sorry! Search up Minimalist Phone instead. They are doing incredible work over there. 😁

I've been using it for 24 hours and everyone I show it to loves it! I am getting used to it.

Hey @teeeeeegz Dumb Phone helps you ditch the distracting iPhone for a simple phone. It replaces the colorful icons with a clean look, letting you focus on important apps. It's like giving your phone a makeover for less distraction.

This is an absolute game changer for me! Switching off almost everything to focus up when I’m working or running has been wonderful

I've upvoted this because I 100% support this product's intentions! I see 2 important use cases for this: 1) desperately needed for people with ADHD (me!) as you mentioned, I can't pick up my phone to do a task without getting distracted with the on-screen alerts that draw me into some deep hole of endless distraction & before long I've forgotten what I picked up my phone to do - aaaagh! It kills me! & ... 2) I'd love it if there were a version suitable for kids with parental controls. To share my current biggest life problem with them re smartphones...My kids are aged 9 & 11. Both are harassing me all day, every day, for access to their own smartphone. I'm trying to hold them back as long as I can (ie 16 once their brains are developed to avoid device addiction etc), but having a smartphone is like some kind of status symbol for them. "My friend has one, he has one, she has one". Parents are all trying to resist. I've bought my kids' dumb phones, like literally back to the late 90s type phones that have no WiFi, no apps, nothing. I love them - all they do is make/receive calls & SMS msgs - but my problem is that my kids are "too embarrassed" to take them with them. What a joke, I know! Also my kids complain (& I get it) that calling all the time is often time consuming & to send an SMS on a dumb phone is incredibly frustrating as it has no keyboard like smartphones do. But what your app offers is a smartphone with the features we love like a keyboard for fast SMS, group (SMS) chats etc, but without all the nasties like distracting apps, the full internet etc. Could your app allow contacts to be updated, SMS to be sent, maybe basic stripped back emojis, access to a camera & block everything else ie no apps, no internet? You'd have every parent of kids aged 8 to 16 wanting one I'd imagine. Kids would have the street cred of holding/answering a smartphone but without all the features that cause mental health issues at such a young age.

This is a great idea. Any plans on making an android app as well? Also do you have a subscription plan or any way to monetize?

That's great, there is no finally an option to make my phone as boring as possible! This is exactly what I need to stop getting stuck in to endless scrolling. Congrats on your launch!

I've been trying to cut down on my phone usage. The idea of replacing flashy icons and simple text buttons is calming. Congratulations!!

I've been using Dumb Phone for a week now, and it’s a refreshing change. The minimalist Home Screen has genuinely reduced my screen time and distractions. I love the flexibility to pick essential apps and style options. Definitely worth trying if you’re seeking a simpler digital life! 💯📱

This is a great idea and it’s executed so well! I love how the “Set Up Guide” clearly guides you through the required steps. Congrats!

I think your version is somehow smarter than a classic one ! At the same time it's giving me anxiety just thinking of how many unnecessary stuff i have on my iphone ...

I’ve always wanted a way to minimize my phone usage without getting a separate device.

Congratulations on the launch! I love the idea of turning my smartphone into a minimalist device. It’s just what I need to avoid distractions and stay focused.

Make Tech Dumb Again! No, but seriously this is great. I've tried actual dumb phones and it's hard not to wish you still had an iPhone with how poorly they work. Congrats on the launch and definitely will try it out
