Redline diffs two drafts word by word — not line by line — so it catches changes mid-sentence the way prose actually gets edited. Inline or side-by-side view, plus a similarity score. One file, works offline, nothing uploaded.
Hey everyone 👋
I kept getting revised drafts back with "made a few changes" attached, and kept having to eyeball two versions of a paragraph to figure out what those changes actually were. Line-by-line diff tools (the kind built for code) don't help much with prose — most edits happen mid-sentence, not on their own line.
So I built Redline. Paste an original and a revised draft, and it shows you a word-level diff — every addition and deletion highlighted, even mid-sentence — plus a similarity score. Read it as one merged view or side by side.
It's a single HTML file, no account, nothing uploaded — I didn't want a diff tool that needed both my drafts sent to a server to work.
One honest note: it computes a mathematically correct minimal diff, but very occasionally, when a short word like "the" repeats near an edit, it groups the change slightly differently than you'd expect by eye. Still accurate, just not always the most intuitive grouping in that one spot.
Would love feedback, especially on real-world drafts — if something looks off, let me know.
