Backstory: I had something like 12,000 files scattered across my machine — PDFs, notes, old contracts, whatever — and I could never find the one I actually needed. Searching "that lease renewal thing" did nothing if those exact words weren't in the file. So I built DocuBrowse.
It indexes everything locally across 40+ formats — PDF, DOCX, EPUB, email, code, even diagrams — and search actually understands what you mean, not just what you typed. There's also Deep Links, which jumps you straight to the matching paragraph inside a doc instead of dumping you at the top of a 200-page PDF to go hunting.
All the AI runs on your own machine through Ollama. No API key, no account, nothing leaves your computer. It's free and GPL-3.0.
Runs on Linux, Windows, and Mac. Happy to answer anything — especially curious what people think of the search relevance.
