DockFix exists for one reason. The Dock that comes with your Mac is not yours. Apple designed it to be fast and reliable, and then closed it: you cannot personalize its colour, its icons, its animations, or much of what sits inside it. We built DockFix to hand all of that back to you.
What we have always been after is harder than it sounds. A dock you have made your own is only worth having if it still feels like part of macOS. The magnification has to carry the right weight. A window has to fold toward the corner it came from. An icon has to appear the instant the app does. Miss any of that and people feel it straight away, even when they could not tell you what is wrong.
So this year we stopped adding to what we had and rebuilt the app from nothing. A new engine, a new interface, and not one line of the old code left in place. It took months, and nothing else shipped while it was happening, because a rewrite is not something you can do halfway.
What came out of it is the DockFix I wanted to make in the first place. It looks and moves like the dock Apple ships, and then it does what Apple’s will not: window previews, widgets, custom icons, folders, presets, the file shelf. None of it feels bolted on, because none of it is.

What happens to the layout when an external display disconnects? Mine reshuffles every time I undock and I put it back by hand.
I am a huge fan of macOS extensions and use BoringNotch and some other stuff. DockFix concept is pretty neat; I like the idea of widgets inside the dock, although the setup is a bit frustrating. But the overall idea is great. Good luck with your launch!
