I run a few large WordPress sites, and their Media Libraries had grown to thousands of images: most of them replaced, duplicated or left behind by deleted posts. Every cleaner I tried either took hours on a big database, timed out, or flagged images that were actually in use.
So we built Unused Image Cleaner:
- Minutes, not hours: it reads the database once, builds an index of every image reference, then checks each image in a single pass. On a site with 5,105 images and 1.9 million database rows, a full scan takes about 2 minutes.
- Strict about "used": full file paths (not just names), every resized copy, page builders like Elementor, plugin tables, theme files and settings.
