Dietfit
AI calorie tracker that helps you eat smarter, not less
Cal AI made AI calorie tracking famous. We made it smarter. In our 30-plate test, Dietfit edged out Cal AI at 82%. But accuracy is just the start. Our interactive AI Scan lets you tap and edit ingredient pop-ups directly on your photo. And sure, Gemini and GPT can talk nutrition, but advice without your full context is still an educated guess. That's where Sara, our AI Coach, comes in, using your meal logs, goals, and activity to make guidance personal. There’s more than a calorie count.
We built Dietfit because we felt calorie tracking could do so much more than just tell you how many calories are on your plate.
Cal AI made snapping a photo to track calories a thing. And honestly, we loved how simple that made food logging. But we kept thinking, what happens after the scan?
❗What if the AI gets an ingredient wrong? What should I eat next? Am I actually making progress toward my goal?
We wanted to build something that could help with all of that, not just counting calories, and here's what we've been working on:
🔸 Interactive AI Scan: Snap a photo, see the ingredients, and correct anything the AI gets wrong directly on the image.
🔸 Sara, your AI Coach: Ask her about nutrition, meals, or your progress. She uses your food logs, goals, and activity to give more personalized answers.
🔸 Meal Planning: Get suggestions for what to eat next, and swap dishes you don't like.
🔸 Fasting & Progress Tracking: Keep track of your fasting schedule and see how your habits change over time, with Apple Health integration.
We're a team still figuring things out, testing, improving, and listening to what people actually need from a nutrition app. And that's why we're here today!
If you've ever used a calorie tracker, what's one thing that made you stop using it?
We'd love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or questions. Thanks for checking us out! 🧡
I'm part of the social media team at Dietfit, and this launch feels a little personal to me.
I've lost 16kg myself, and one thing I wish I'd known earlier is that losing weight isn't just about eating less. It's about understanding what you're eating and finding a way to stay in a calorie deficit without making your life miserable.
When I first started, I spent so much time figuring things out on my own. How many calories should I eat? Can I still enjoy my favorite foods? Am I doing this right?
To be honest, the more I learned about nutrition, the more I realized that weight loss doesn't have to feel so complicated. And that's one of the reasons I love being part of the team building Dietfit.
We're not trying to create another app that just gives you a calorie number and calls it a day. We want people to understand their eating habits, make informed choices, and feel a little more confident around food. Because I know what it's like to overthink every meal, and I also know how freeing it feels when you finally understand what works for you.
Losing 16kg taught me that weight loss starts with a calorie deficit, but lasting change comes from understanding yourself. That's what I hope Dietfit can help more people discover.
Really excited to share what we've been working on with you all! 🧡
We're the makers of Dietfit. A fast first scan can make a good first impression, but it doesn't answer a bigger question: why would someone still want to use the app a week later?
We see logging and guidance as connected problems. Dietfit's scan gives you detected ingredients you can review and edit on the photo. Sara is designed to use your meal logs, goals, and activity to make nutrition guidance more relevant to your routine.
But a longer feature list isn't the same as lasting value. For one person, the win might be less time spent logging. For another, it might be understanding their meals better or getting a useful answer without repeatedly explaining their context.
We'd rather hear what “useful” means in your day than assume everyone wants the same thing.
I weigh most of my food raw. Can I enter those weights instead of taking a photo?
Same question as Thomas: Is this available on Android too? I'd love to get a subscription for my mom as well, but she uses a Pixel 😅
I used to just ask ChatGPT to guess my meal calories, but the problem is it has no clue what I ate the rest of the day. This does so big congrats !!
Asian food is usually a nightmare to log, half the dishes arent even in other apps database. This one actually recognizes bun bo hue and com tam lol 🇻🇳
Most people don’t stop tracking calories because they stop caring about what they eat. They stop because keeping track of everything becomes another task they have to manage.
Typing every ingredient, estimating portions, and repeating the same process meal after meal can get exhausting.
That’s one of the problems we wanted Dietfit to address. You can scan a meal, review the ingredients Dietfit detects, and edit individual items directly on the photo instead of having to accept one final number.
We’re also trying to make the experience useful beyond logging, with Sara for personalized guidance, plus widgets, streaks, and Apple Health sync.
Our goal isn’t to make people track more. It’s to make tracking easier to keep up with.
What’s the biggest reason you’ve stopped using a calorie tracker in the past?
Hi Product Hunt!
So happy to finally see Dietfit live today! 🎉
The thing I love most is how little effort logging takes now. Snap a photo, check the breakdown, fix an item if needed, and you’re done. I’ve been using it for my own meals, and it’s honestly the first tracker I haven’t given up on after a week.
Would love to hear how it works for your meals!
I have a complicated history with tracking tbh. This one feels less obsessive because it's fast and doesn't shame you, and it matters more than people think. And congrats on the launch!
Hey Product Hunt 👋
Most food questions don't have one right answer. "Is pasta healthy?" "Is pho okay for dinner?" It depends on what you've eaten today, your goal, and how active you've been.
That's why we built Sara, our AI Coach. Instead of a generic chatbot answer, she uses your meal logs, goals and activity to answer for you specifically. And with Deep Scan, you can tap and fix any ingredient right on your photo, so the data she works with stays accurate.
What's a food question you've never gotten a straight answer to? Drop it below 🙂
most tracking apps just dump total calories at you, but hitting daily protein is what actually matters for me. Love that DietFit breaks down the macros directly from the scan, can I also customize my own daily target macro splits? The UI looks super slick though🔥Upvoted, congrats on launching today team!
Hi Product Hunt!
One thing we've learned while building Dietfit: a calorie estimate shouldn't look more certain than it is.
A number like “537 calories” looks precise. But a food photo doesn't tell you everything: how much oil went into the pan, what's inside a sauce, or exactly how large the portion is.
A photo scan is an estimate, not an exact measurement. That's why we let users review the ingredients Dietfit detects and edit them directly on the photo.
It doesn't remove every uncertainty, but it gives users more control instead of blindly accepting a number.
For us, it's not just about how quickly we can show a number, but how we help people understand it.
What would help you interpret an AI food estimate: a range, an explanation of the assumptions, or a clearer way to review the ingredients?
Would love to hear your thoughts!
Lifter here, and I care about protein not just total calories. was on Cronometer but logging every ingredient by hand burned me out. Snapping a plate and getting protein per meal is what finally stuck!
ok the AI scan demos always look great but how does it handle a messy mixed plate? like a stir fry where everything's piled together. that's exactly where these kinda apps fall apart for me
Congrats on the launch! Macro breakdown straight from a photo is kinda wild. Didn't expect it to be this fast
Hi Product Hunt!
I’m Khanh from the Dietfit team. Thanks so much @justin2025 for hunting us!
Dietfit started from a simple frustration: most calorie trackers make you do all the work. Searching databases, weighing food, logging every ingredient. Most people give up within a week.
So we built Dietfit around two ideas:
AI Scan: snap a photo of your meal and get calories and macros in seconds
AI Coach: guidance that adapts to your goals and habits, not just numbers on a screen
We’d love your honest feedback:
👉 What’s the one thing that made you quit calorie tracking before?
We’ll be here all day answering questions! 🙌
Adding 1 data point to this: we actually ran a 30-plate head-to-head test against Cal AI before launch, Dietfit came out at 82% accuracy. The scan-and-edit flow Ella mentioned is what made the biggest difference for us during testing, way faster than hunting through a food database to fix one wrong item.
Excited to see this out in the world today 🧡
