Hey Product Hunt 👋
I work in emergency medicine, so a lot of my week is night shifts — the kind where the news feed is the last thing you want to open at 4am. I liked the idea of "on this day in history" apps, but every one I tried mixed in wars, assassinations, disasters — right next to the moon landing. So I built Diem to only show the good half: discoveries, peace, culture, sport. Nothing else.
Every event is written twice — English and Croatian, by hand, not translated by a machine. There's a Daily Challenge quiz where one wrong answer ends your run, a streak system that unlocks new accent colors, and a home screen widget so most days you don't even need to open the app.
Built solo with React Native / Expo. Thanks to Claude (Anthropic) for pairing with me through most of the development, and RevenueCat for handling subscriptions.
