Hey Product Hunt 👋 I wanted a tool that would help me **think through system design faster during interviews**. Most diagramming tools make you spend too much time dragging boxes, connecting arrows, and arranging everything before you can focus on the actual problem. So I built **Diagramly**, a whiteboard where you can type your ideas, let AI turn them into diagrams, and get straight to solving the problem. For example, type: `Client -> API -(HTTPS)-> Orders, Payments -> Orders DB` Press Enter, and you get a clean, hand-drawn diagram with the layout handled for you. You can keep editing it with text, drag-and-drop, drawing tools, or AI. Here's what makes Diagramly different:** - ⚡ Go from idea to diagram in seconds:** Describe a system in plain English or use a simple typing syntax. AI turns your ideas into diagrams you can refine, rather than making you build everything from scratch. - 🤖 AI that works with your canvas:** Ask it to create a system, add a component, restructure a flow, or change an existing diagram. Every AI change can be reverted. - 🎯 Views built for presenting:** Create multiple views on the same canvas, each highlighting a different part of your system. Switch between them with keyboard shortcuts during a presentation, keeping the audience focused on what matters. - 🎬 Turn diagrams into presentations:** Press `Shift + P` to turn your frames into slides that reveal information step by step. - 🎨 Six visual styles:** Switch between paper, notebook, blueprint, chalkboard, whiteboard marker, and ink & neon with one click. - 📝 Cheat sheets and visual notes:** Combine diagrams with bullets, steps, flows, tables, and takeaways. Publish them as shareable cheat sheets. - 🌐 Embed and share anywhere:** Share view-only links or embed diagrams in docs, wikis, websites, and social media posts. - 📤 Export your work:** Download as PNG, SVG, or PDF, or export to Mermaid. Pro also unlocks slide, GIF, and video exports. Whether you're preparing for a system design interview, explaining an architecture to your team, creating technical documentation, or making a visual post for social media, the goal is the same: **spend less time drawing and more time thinking.** Diagramly is free to use with no sign-up required, and your diagrams stay in your browser. Pro ($6/month) adds unlimited cloud diagrams, 200 AI messages per day, version history, public pages, templates, one-click Tidy layout, and additional export options. I'd love to hear your feedback! What would you want to create with Diagramly, and what's missing from the current typing syntax?

six looks from paper to neon 👀 which one do people actually pick? and can i bring my own colors and font so it matches a brand, or is it neon or nothing lol 🫶

Every system design starts with a simple idea.

But turning that idea into a proper diagram? That’s where the time goes.

You start with a few boxes, drag them around, fix arrows, rearrange services, and before you know it, you’ve spent 40 minutes just drawing.

So I built Diagramly to make that process easier.

Just describe your system in plain English, and it turns your idea into a diagram with services, databases, queues, and labelled connections, organized into sections.

And you can keep refining it through conversation:
“Add a Redis cache in front of the orders DB.”
“Scale the matching service to 3 replicas.”
“Add an SLO checklist next to the API gateway.”

It updates the existing diagram instead of starting from scratch.
There's also a Tidy feature to organize complex diagrams, route arrows around components, and make everything easier to follow.

Once you're happy with it, share a link with your team. The diagram is stored in the URL, so anyone can open it without signing up.

I went with a hand-drawn style intentionally. System designs are rarely perfect on the first try, and diagrams should feel easy to change, question, and improve.

That's what design reviews are all about.

Diagramly is free to start and runs right in your browser.

What would you build first?
