What inspired me to build this:
I kept seeing medical reps and hospital staff frantically scrolling through complex PDF manuals on their phones outside the OR just to check cage dimensions, lordosis angles, or autoclave cycles before a surgery. All that critical data was completely trapped in messy, unsearchable PDFs. High risk for all parties.
The problem I set out to solve:
In healthcare, guesswork isn't an option - and generic AI tools make things worse by hallucinating numbers. Surgical reps need fast side-by-side comparisons to pitch surgeons, while hospital teams need verified sterilization specs. They need instant answers, but they also need proof.
How the approach evolved:
Honestly, my early prototypes with basic AI prompting struggled with the complex stuff. More importantly, I realized reps and clinicians won't trust an answer unless they can see the exact source with their own eyes. So I pivoted to a strict zero-hallucination model: in DeviceScout, every single extracted spec links directly to the physical PDF page and a verbatim quote.
