Deskterm was built with the Phoenix Framework (Elixir).
Deskterm is the successor of Instant Workstation, a virtual machine on demand service. By switching from virtual machines to docker containers, it became possible to economically run these workstation containers on demand in global locations. The containers run on Fly.io micro VMs.
The architecture and development of Deskterm has been documented with MkDocs. The documentation is publicly accessible.
