DESIGN:OS Figma Plugin & CLI
Let your AI coding agent read and edit your open Figma file
A free Figma plugin + CLI that lets Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or Antigravity inspect and edit the file you have open. Local WebSocket on 127.0.0.1, one undo step per mutation, PNG export to verify changes, zero telemetry. Source-available.
Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Jang, and I built the DESIGN:OS Figma Plugin & CLI.
I kept asking my coding agent to build UI from a design, and it kept guessing. So I made a small bridge: a Figma plugin plus a `figma-agent` CLI that talk over a local WebSocket on 127.0.0.1.
With it, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or Antigravity can:
• inspect the live selection in compact summaries rather than giant JSON dumps
• scan the file's design system and variables
• create frames, set text and change auto-layout, with one undo step per mutation
• export PNGs to check the result before and after a change
It works on the free Figma plan, sends zero telemetry, and is source-available under PolyForm Shield 1.0.0.
Limits: it needs the Figma app open with the plugin connected, so it is not for headless CI.
Compact summaries instead of giant JSON dumps is the right call — that's usually what makes agent-plus-Figma workflows unusable. The one-undo-step-per-mutation detail is interesting too: does that hold when the agent makes a batch of related edits, or does each small change become its own undo step?
It explains the foundation behind this plugin: Model + Harness and the 6 pillars of DESIGN:OS.
The plugin is free. I'm not selling anything, I'd just love to hear what you think after trying it. Drop your feedback right under this comment.
