I built this because every free Human Design chart tool I tried did one of two
things: gated the result behind an email, or wrote about the system as though it
were settled science.
DefinedSelf does neither. The chart is free, there's no account, and the
calculation is checkable — the engine is verified 624 of 624 activations against
an independent ephemeris across 24 reference charts spanning 1940 to 2025,
including the second sky taken 88 degrees of solar arc before birth, which is the
part most tools get quietly wrong.
The part I care most about is the honesty layer. There's a page explaining that
the meanings laid over the astronomy have never been scientifically validated,
that reference sources class the system as pseudoscience, and that the Barnum
effect explains a good deal of why a chart feels personally accurate — including
the ones on this site. It seemed strange to build a self-knowledge tool that
couldn't survive being honest about itself.
Happy to answer anything about the astronomy, the timezone handling, or why the
design date is 88 degrees rather than 88 days.
