Declutr sorts your Desktop, Downloads or any folder into folders by file type in one click: Images, Documents, Videos, Archives, Code, 3D Models and more. One Undo puts every file back. New since the first launch: it's on the Mac App Store, with Smart Rules (name, extension, age, size), watched folders that sort new files as they land, and a daily cleanup. Rules, not AI: it never reads what's inside your files. Free to sort, Pro is $8.99 once.
Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Elior. I work with Mirhad (@mhyks), who builds Declutr, on the site and the marketing.
The problem is boring and everyone has it: a Downloads folder with 600 files and a Desktop you can't see anymore because of the clutter. Most tools either want you to spend an evening writing rules, or send your files to an AI on a subscription.
Declutr does the simple thing well: pick a folder, click once, and every file goes into a folder by type. Don't like the result? One Undo puts everything back, so you can try it on your real Desktop.
What's new since the first launch:
• Now on the Mac App Store
• Smart Rules: name, extension, age or size, with AND/OR
• Watched folders: new files are sorted as they land
• A daily scheduled cleanup
• No AI, no account: it only looks at file names and extensions
Sorting any folder is free. Pro is $8.99 once, no subscription.
Mirhad and I are here all day. Ask us anything, and tell us which file type it gets wrong 🙂
"rules not AI, never reads what's inside your files" is the right pitch for something touching your whole desktop, that's exactly the kind of tool I don't want guessing. question on the watched folders: if a browser is still writing a large download and Declutr's watcher fires early, does it wait for the file to finish or is there a risk of grabbing a half-downloaded file mid-move?

Declutr was hunted by Elior Pommier. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
