DayWallet shows one number: what you can safely spend today, after bills, protected money, payday and your own buffer. New in 1.2 — an Insights screen for the other question: where did it actually go? No account, no cloud, no bank connection.

Hi Product Hunt. DayWallet started from one frustration: my bank balance was never the number I needed. It doesn't know rent is due Thursday, that some of that money is already spoken for, or that payday is eleven days out. So I built the app that does the subtraction — one number, updated daily, no bank login. Today's 1.2 release adds the question I couldn't answer before: where did it actually go? The new Insights screen shows net cash flow for a period, where the money went ranked by category, and a cash flow trend you can tap for exact amounts. It also writes short observations in plain English — and only when the data supports them. If there's nothing honest to say about your last seven days, that section stays empty. I'd rather show less than pad it. Two decisions worth flagging, since this is a crowd that cares: No bank connection, and that's deliberate. You record your own spending. It's more work than an app that reads your transactions, and it means no account, no cloud, and your data staying on your device. Some people will bounce off that. The ones who don't tend to stay. Insights owns no financial truth. It's a read-only aggregation over the ledger, and no balance, reserve or runway calculation consults it. Meanwhile Safe to Spend, the protected reserve and the runway now all derive from one due-date engine rather than three near-identical ones. That sounds like an implementation detail until you've used an app that gives you three different answers to the same question. Free covers today, the last 7 days, this month, your top three categories and two observations. Premium adds 90 days, 6 months, a year, every category, the personal-versus-business split, and every observation. I read every piece of feedback that comes in. If something looks wrong, tell me here.

Love that it just throws one number at you with no setup drama. The Insights view is genuinely useful for spotting where the little ones add up without having to link anything.
