Hi Product Hunt!
It started as a complaint about our own mornings. Four daily puzzle games open in four tabs, and somewhere along the way the habit had stopped being a break and turned into a to-do list. What we wanted was one page, a few minutes, and a clear end.
So Daycrumb gives you three puzzles a day, drawn from a rotating pool so the mix changes, and then it stops. There is a screen at the end of the set with your three results on it, and that is the end of the day. The whole thing is about five minutes - a coffee break, not a session.
Two decisions we would defend:
The archive does not close. Most daily games delete their back catalogue at midnight. Every Daycrumb edition since 1 September is still playable in full. But a puzzle finished after its own day earns no streak day and half the crumbs, so the archive is there for the days you missed without turning the streak into something you can grind back.
No sign-up. You open the page and play. Your record follows the browser.
It is free, there are no ads, and it will sit on your home screen if you want it there.
The thing we would most like to hear about: when you play a daily puzzle, is it the streak that brings you back, or the puzzle? We have built the whole progression on the assumption that it is the streak, and we are not confident that is right.
