Datplan DataPull
Pull business data privately and build reusable reports
Datplan DataPull helps accountants, finance teams and consultants stop rebuilding the same reporting spreadsheets every month. It pulls authorised business data directly to a Windows device, prepares reporting-ready tables, creates dashboards, schedules refreshes and exports data for Excel, Power BI and other BI tools—without requiring a separate cloud reporting warehouse.
I built Datplan DataPull after repeatedly seeing the same reporting problem: data is exported from accounting and business systems, cleaned in Excel, reorganised into a report, and then much of that work has to be repeated again next month.
I wanted to turn that into a reusable process without creating another cloud reporting platform that businesses must send all their operational data through.
Datplan DataPull runs as a Windows desktop application. It pulls authorised data directly to the user’s device, prepares structured reporting tables, creates dashboards, schedules refreshes and produces exports for Excel, Power BI and other reporting tools.
The approach evolved from simply extracting API data into building a complete reporting workflow:
• Connect an authorised data source
• Pull and structure the data
• Build reusable dashboards
• Schedule future refreshes
• Export reporting-ready tables
• Retain audit and reconciliation outputs
Privacy shaped the architecture from the start. Datplan uses cloud services for areas such as authentication, source access and subscription control, but the business reporting datasets do not need to be uploaded to a separate Datplan reporting warehouse.
Datplan is initially aimed at accountants, finance teams and consultants who regularly rebuild reports from systems such as Xero, QuickBooks and HubSpot.
I would value feedback on three areas:
1. Which monthly reports currently require the most manual rebuilding?
2. Which source systems should Datplan support next?
3. Does keeping the reporting dataset on the Windows device solve a meaningful privacy or control concern for your organisation?
