Most Excel cleaners make you select the columns and hope. DataSort reads the file the way a person would: it finds the real header row buried under junk rows, catches fuzzy duplicates ("Jon Smith" vs "John Smith") rather than only exact matches, and merges files whose columns are named differently by mapping them itself. No install and no signup to try. Files are processed in memory and never stored. The free plan handles files up to 500 rows.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋

I am Maaz, the solo maker behind DataSort.

Like a lot of you, I have lost whole afternoons to messy spreadsheets. You export a CSV from a CRM, a billing tool or a survey, and the mess starts: junk preamble rows above the real header, dates in five different formats, inconsistent capitalization, stray whitespace, and near duplicate rows like "Jon Smith" and "John Smith".

The usual options are writing a Python script, fighting Power Query, or paying enterprise pricing to clean one file.

DataSort is my attempt at a better answer:

  1. Automatic cleaning. It finds the real table header under the preamble, standardises dates to YYYY-MM-DD, trims whitespace, fixes casing, and flags fuzzy duplicates.

  2. Every change is auditable. It lists what it changed, column by column. You can jump to any changed row, and revert a single change if you disagree with it. The AI pass is a starting point, not the last word.

  3. Plain English assistant. Type what you want, for example "split Customer Name into first and last" or "extract the domain from Email", and it writes the transformation and applies it.

  4. Multi sheet merging. Stack monthly tabs or combine separate CSVs even when the column names do not line up. It maps the schemas for you and shows what the merged table will contain before you commit.

  5. How your data is handled. Your file is parsed in your browser with SheetJS. Only the cells the AI needs are sent to the model, and no file data is permanently stored on our servers.

  6. Low friction. Free tier with no signup and no credit card.

Try it on your own worst spreadsheet at https://datasort.app

I would genuinely like the critical feedback, especially the files it gets wrong. What spreadsheet chore eats your week?

Who hunted DataSort?

DataSort was hunted by Muhammad Maaz Ul Haq. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
