Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built DanceOnMusic after watching a friend try to learn a wedding first dance in her living room. She had lessons once a week, but the actual practice — alone, with a playlist, no idea if her feet matched the beat — was where she was stuck. There was no one to copy.
So that's what this is: you upload any song, and a virtual dancer performs steps in time with the beat, naming each move so you can pause, replay, and shadow it until it sticks. Three difficulty levels, from slow-and-grounded to spins and fast footwork.
A few things I deliberately kept simple:
No sign-up, no download. It runs in your browser and your file never leaves your device.
Your own music. Practising to a song you actually like — a 90s dance track, whatever's stuck in your head — builds real muscle memory, not abstract rhythm drills.
Works for kids too. Set it to Beginner and it's a genuinely fun way to get little ones moving on a rainy afternoon.
It's not trying to replace a real teacher — it's for the hours in between, when it's just you and the music.
I'd genuinely love feedback, especially on the beat detection and which dance steps you'd want added next. What would make this something you'd actually use?
