Dad Can't Draw is a text-to-image coloring page generator. It started as a command line script that I used to create coloring pages based on my kids requests.

Hello Hunters! 👋 I'm Josh, a father of 3 under 4y/o, ex-chef/cook of 18 years, mostly self-taught dev & I guess now *actually* an indie maker. For the past few years I've been trying to transition from kitchen work to a job in tech. For the past couple of months I've been working on Dad Can't Draw, an AI-powered coloring page generator. I'm super excited to share it with you all today! It's a simple concept, but as my very first "real" project (also first Product Hunt launch) & I'm quite proud of it. Here's how it works: Each new account gets 10 free generations to try it out. On the dashboard you will be greeted by a prompt: "What would you like to color today?" Simply type in the subject that you would like to color, for example, my 3y/o son's favorite: "a dinosaur driving a truck" Wait a few seconds & Viola! A custom coloring page tailored to your request The generations are not perfect & it may take a couple tries or some re-wording to get exactly what you want, but it makes for a fun interaction seeing what surprises will be generated next. This is being worked on & will only continue to get better. I'm also currently working on adding to the feature set, including the ability to generate multiple images at the same time, generate coloring pages from your own uploaded images, image post-processing, etc. Anyway, I look forward to any feedback you all may have & would also LOVE to see any creations that you/your little ones come up with. Thanks & take care!

This is such a cool project! Really easy to understand how to use from a great landing page and video tutorial. Congrats on the launch!

This app will definitely excite my nieces and nephews, they get to have fun and be creative at the same time. Great idea!

Congrats on launching Dad Can't Draw @joshmccoydev! Even though I don't have kids yet, I'm sure parents would enjoy your product and have lots of fun with their kids.

Just tried it - it worked perfectly on the first try, and my child was absolutely thrilled. Instead of searching for pre-made coloring pages, my little one can now create personalized illustrations based on her own imagination. Highly recommend for any parent looking to engage their child's artistic side in a fun and unique way!

Can it also create coloring books for adults. I know many adults may need a coloring book for stress relief

What a really cute idea, I can see this being helpful for teachers who want an engaging activity for the classroom. They can all decide on a topic to draw and print it out for the kids

This is really a very carefully made product! It reminds me of the good old days of my childhood🧡🧡🧡 and it would have been great if there was such a product back then. Finally, congratulations on the release of the product, it caught my eye🚀🚀🚀

Inspiring journey really shows how accessible and digestible tech is nowadays. Don't worry about the "simple concept" for ideas. I would argue the simplier the better, allows you to focus more time on fine features!

Hey Josh .. a very cool idea especially for parents .. I would take this even further and let them create the pages and send them as a print book for an extra price.. this would be a cool gift idea too.. all the best

I'm 20 and don't have kids but I would totally use something like this in the future lmao. I saw this on the homepage and was like "that's awesome". Good luck!

Wow this is nice! Normally i be googling “line drawings” like a madman when the kids wants to draw something 😅

Dad Can't Draw seems like a creative and entertaining tool. With additional capabilities like the ability to create numerous pictures and use uploaded photos, how do you see this developing?

Congrats on the launch! It looks like an awesome application of AI! A really cool next step would be to create theme-based coloring books or even craft storybooks for kids that can be read and colored in simultaneously.

This is such a great idea! So wholesome and I love your story behind the project as well. Truly a project made with love!
