The web is increasingly difficult to trust: search results are crowded with generated summaries, SEO pages, and content farms. I built Cryo to make older, genuinely human-written knowledge easier to find again.
Cryo searches a frozen pre-2022 corpus and uses an authenticity-aware ranking approach alongside relevance. It’s a research prototype, and we’d love to learn: what kinds of information do you most want to retrieve from the human web?
A 2021 cutoff is clever but the AI flood really started ramping up in late 2022 and exploded in 2023, so a lot of low-quality content slipped in just before your freeze date. Have you considered letting users flag or exclude results from specific domains like content farms or SEO blogs, even within the pre-2022 corpus? It would help surface more genuine voices like forum posts, personal blogs, and academic writing over the keyword-stuffed stuff.
Tried searching for some old programming tutorials and actually found real forum posts instead of the usual AI-rewritten sludge. The pre-2022 cutoff feels weirdly refreshing, like searching the internet used to.
