Ahoy, Product Hunt. I'm Justin, and I built Crankshaft over months of nights and weekends off the side of my desk. Nice to meet you all.
It began while driving - I had access to all of the music in the world, Apple Music's sound quality was always great, but everything felt very limited and repetitive. I tried to build a smarter shuffle, and it ended up becoming a music that reads how you actually listen, trying to maximize your enjoyment, rather than your engagement.
One thing it does differently: it does all of this on your device and collects nothing. No account, no ads, no tracking, no data leaving your phone. Personalization without surveillance.
