We're the team behind Coral eSIM, a small studio in Japan. We built this because every trip started the same way: land, hunt for a SIM counter or a working wifi hotspot, and lose the first hour of the trip to it. Or skip that and find a roaming bill waiting at home.
Coral is one app that covers 180+ countries. You set the plan up on wifi before you fly, and tap once when you land. Your home SIM stays in place for calls and texts. If you cross a border, you switch destination in the app instead of buying a new SIM.
The part we care most about is Data for Blue. For every gigabyte used, we donate to coral reef restoration. A lot of the places people travel to are exactly the places losing their reefs, so we wanted the product to give something back rather than just take.
This is our first launch here, and we would rather hear what is wrong than what is nice. If you travel often: what breaks for you today, and what would actually make you switch?
