Convert.Online started as a plain file converter and still is one, across 400+ formats. What's new: an MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini can convert files directly in a conversation, and a REST API with chained jobs, webhooks and a sandbox mode. Also added since the last launch — OCR that makes scanned PDFs searchable in 17 languages, and imports straight from Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive.
We launched here last October as a plain file converter — drop a file, pick a format, get it back. That still works, across 400+ formats.
What's new is the part we actually want feedback on: an MCP server. Assistants can call tools now, but almost nothing in file conversion exposes any, so you still download a file, convert it in a tab, and upload it again. Connect Convert.Online once and you can ask Claude to convert something mid-conversation and it happens right there.
Alongside it there's a REST API with chained jobs — pull from S3, convert, drop on SFTP in one request — plus webhooks and a sandbox mode that returns a real response shape without a key.
Also since the last launch:
OCR — turns a scanned PDF into a searchable one, in 17 languages.
Imports from Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive, so a file already in the cloud doesn't have to come home first.
