ConverterToMarkdown
Convert DOCX, PDF, XLSX & images to Markdown — in-browser
ConverterToMarkdown converts DOCX, PDF, XLSX, HTML, images and 15 formats total into clean Markdown — entirely in your browser. No uploads, automatic OCR for scanned documents, batch conversion with ZIP export, and a live editor with preview. 100% free, no sign-up.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm Francisco, an independent developer. I built ConverterToMarkdown because I kept needing to convert documentation,
PDFs and spreadsheets into Markdown — for GitHub repos, Obsidian notes and as context for LLMs — and I couldn't find a tool that was free, privacy-respecting, and didn't require uploading files to a server.
What it does:
- Converts 15 formats (DOCX, PDF, XLSX, XLS, HTML, TXT, MD, CSV, JSON, XML, JPG, PNG, WEBP, BMP, GIF) to Markdown
- Runs 100% in your browser — files never leave your device
- Automatic OCR for scanned PDFs and images (Tesseract.js)
- Batch mode: convert multiple files at once and download has ZIP
- Built-in Markdown editor with live HTML preview
- Works offline once loaded — free, no sign-up, MIT licensed
Would love your feedback — which formats or workflows should I support next?
