Hey Product Hunt 👋
I sail out of a small club, and every regatta had the same story: one
person got stuck being "the race committee." Printing course sheets,
running the start sequence off a stopwatch and a horn, scribbling sail
numbers on a soggy clipboard, then spending Sunday night typing it all
into a spreadsheet to get corrected times out. Miss one finish and the
whole night's results are guesswork.
The big race management systems are built for championship regattas
with a paid PRO and a budget to match. Nothing was built for a Tuesday
night beer can race run by volunteers.
So I built Committee Boat HQ:
⛵ Build a course once, save it, reuse it every week
⏱️ Start sequences that run themselves — synced horns on every boat,
so the fleet hears the same countdown you do
📍 Live GPS tracking of the whole fleet on a real chart
🏁 Automatic finish detection when a boat crosses the line
⚖️ Penalties (OCS, 360, 720, DSQ) recorded in the moment, not from memory
🏆 PHRF corrected results the second the last boat finishes
⌚️ Apple Watch and Wear OS glances so you can leave the phone in your pocket
It's on iOS and Android. It also handles pursuit starts, private races
with a join code, and a shared committee roster so the work isn't
one person's job anymore.
