Coherence Audio
Record multiple USB mics with auto-drift correction
I built Coherence Audio because I was tired of fighting Windows to record my son’s piano. Using multiple USB mics usually means tracks drifting out of sync. Virtual mixers and cables are a headache I wanted to skip. Coherence Audio is my personal tool turned public. It provides a simple, single-window setup for multi-USB recording with active drift correction. Get isolated, perfectly synced tracks without the configuration nightmare. Plug in and record.
I actually wrote this tool out of pure frustration. I tried everything on Windows to record multiple USB mics into isolated tracks, but I always ran into messy configs, virtual wiring, and a headache of different apps and I couldn't get them to record at their individual max sample rate (I have a mic that can do 192khz, but another only does 48khz and I just couldn't get that going). Needless to say, none of the experience was great (trawled through lots of reddit / forums etc and the pain is publicly acknowledged, even accepted!
The real dealbreaker was that I couldn't even keep the mics in sync. By the end of an hour-long recording, they’d always drift... which is a total killer when you're close miking an acoustic piano (the project that started all of this).
Oh, you may remember me - I also created MPDN (MediaPlayerDotNet).
I’ve used this privately for a while now, but I finally decided to polish it up and share it. It’s a native Windows app that just lets you record multiple USB mics easily. The Basic edition is free, and the Pro edition handles the automatic drift correction I needed for my piano
recordings.
I'd love to hear if this solves the same headaches for you.
