The problem: As a frontend developer, I constantly found myself studying beautiful websites — inspecting elements, copying CSS, downloading assets manually, and then trying to recreate layouts in React. It was tedious, error-prone, and took hours.
The solution: CloneWebsite is a free Chrome extension that does all of this in one click:
1. Clone — Capture any webpage or just a component with 100% pixel-perfect accuracy. All computed styles, DOM structure, images, fonts, and resources are extracted and bundled into a ZIP.
2. Magic Paste — Convert cloned HTML into ready-to-use React or Vue component code. SVG icons are extracted automatically, and inline styles can be converted to Tailwind.
3. Workbench — An offline editor right in the extension. Edit code, preview live, and optionally use AI (BYOK — bring your own OpenAI-compatible API key).

Been using this for a week and the React conversion is honestly impressive, especially with Magic Paste. One thing I'd love to see is a way to filter out third party scripts and tracking pixels before the download, right now the zip files end up bloated with analytics stuff that clutters the clone. A simple toggle in the popup to strip those by default would be huge.
The pixel-perfect cloning is seriously impressive, especially for a free extension. One thing that would make it even more useful for me: a built-in diff tool to compare the cloned version against the original and highlight any subtle differences (fonts, spacing, missing assets) before I export. Would save a lot of manual QA work.
Finally something that actually grabs the fonts and images, not just the markup. The Magic Paste into React saved me an hour on a landing page rebuild.
honestly this looks really useful, the pixel perfect cloning is impressive. one thing though, can you add a way to selectively exclude certain assets like tracking scripts or third party fonts before exporting the zip? would save a lot of cleanup time when reusing the layouts.
