macOS runs your scripts, backups, and AI agents on invisible launchd schedules. Clocksmith makes them visible: live status for every job, run history (time, duration, exit code) pulled from the system log, and red-flagged error lines when something fails. One click hands a failing job's log to ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini with the question pre-filled. Create, run, pause, or reschedule jobs — with automatic backups. Native, notarized by Apple, no telemetry. Free 7-day full trial, then $4.99 once.
Hi PH! 👋
I built Clocksmith because my Mac quietly runs a bunch of daily jobs
(including reports my AI tools set up for me), and the only way to know if
they ran — or silently failed — was digging through Terminal.
Two tricks I'm most proud of:
1. It reconstructs **run history from the macOS unified log** — "ran 08:30
→ 08:33, exit 0, 25 min ago" for every job, without touching any of
them. launchd has no API for this; no other launchd GUI shows it.
2. When a job fails, error lines go red under a plain-language banner, and
**one click opens ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini with the diagnosis question
pre-filled** (your own account — the app has no API keys and sends
nothing anywhere).
Safety was the #1 design rule: every edit is backup → write → verify →
auto-restore on failure, and anything it can't edit safely is shown
read-only instead.
Free 7-day full-featured trial, then $4.99 one-time, macOS 14+. Would love
your feedback on what to build next (menu bar mode? notifications on
failure?).

Who hunted Clocksmith?
Clocksmith was hunted by Shawn Chiao. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
