Hey Product Hunt! Ojas here. I built Clip Utils because I was tired of uploading personal photos and videos to random websites just to resize or compress them. Every "free" tool either slaps a watermark on your file, forces you to create an account, or quietly uploads your media to their servers. So I built the opposite: every single operation runs in your browser. Your files never leave your device. No server upload, no account, no watermark. Ever. Here's what's inside: Video tools Trim Video — cut clips without re-encoding the entire file Compress Video — shrink file size with adjustable quality Video to GIF — pick a segment, set FPS and resolution Photo tools HEIC to JPG — batch convert iPhone photos, lossless Remove Background — AI-powered, runs fully in-browser Compress Image — WebP/JPG/PNG with quality control Resize Image — by dimensions, percentage, or target file size (e.g. "make it under 100 KB") The "resize to target KB" feature is one I'm especially proud of. If you've ever applied for a government ID, a job portal, or a university form that says "upload a photo under 100 KB" — you know the pain. Clip Utils uses a binary search algorithm to find the exact quality + resolution combination that hits your target size without destroying the image. Under the hood: video tools run on FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly with multi-threading (SharedArrayBuffer + Web Workers). Background removal uses an ONNX neural network running client-side. Image tools use the Canvas API — instant, no engine download needed. Everything is open source. What's next: I'm working on adding more format conversions, a batch video compressor, and audio tools. If there's a media task you wish you could do without uploading your files somewhere sketchy — I'd love to hear it. Would really appreciate your feedback and support. Happy to answer any questions! — Ojas
