Clipt
Free, open source screen recording without the friction
Record, trim, frame. Clipt is a free, open source screen recorder for Mac that stays out of your way. Pick your screen, a window or an area, and record. When you stop, a simple editor opens: trim, crop, add a background, padding, rounded corners or your camera. Export, and the MP4 is already on your clipboard. Every feature is free. No account, no watermark, no paid tier, and your recordings never leave your Mac. Export clean videos in seconds. Try it right in your browser.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Clipt because every time I wanted to record a quick clip of my screen, I ended up in some heavy app that wanted an account, a subscription, or tried to upload my video somewhere.
I just wanted to hit a shortcut, record, make it look decent, and paste it. So that's what Clipt does:
• ⌘N, pick your screen, a window or an area, record
• A small editor to trim, crop, and add a background, padding, rounded corners or your camera
• Export and the MP4 is already on your clipboard
Everything is free and open source (MIT). No account, no watermark, no paid tier, and nothing leaves your Mac. It also updates itself.
It's the first release, so I'd really love to hear what feels rough or what you'd want next. And if you're curious how it works, the code is all on GitHub: github.com/eduardoalba00/clipt
Thanks for checking it out! 🙏
