The idea came from a simple pain: watching tutorials, I rarely have time to stop and apply everything in the moment. But if I do not capture those moments, I lose them.
Then I took a method from How to Read a Book by Mortimer Adler: go through the whole thing once first, and only after decide whether it deserves deep study at all. I started watching courses that way, full watch first, decide later. What I added is marking: during the first watch I mark the moments that matter and tag them, so later I can sit down once, go through my marks, and jump directly to each moment instead of rewatching anything.
The name explains itself from there: books have margins, a place to write right next to what you read. Videos have nothing. So I treated videos like books and built the margin for them: ClipMargin.
How it works: a note panel beside the video, every note saves the exact second, an empty note is just a bookmark on the moment, and tags group your marks by topic. Notes from every platform land in one searchable library, and everything exports as Markdown so nothing is locked in.
It is free with no limits while in beta. Fair warning: it has bugs here and there, and I fix what I find the same day. Vimeo, Skillshare, and Instagram support all shipped because one beta user asked. That is genuinely how the roadmap works, so tell me what is missing for your workflow and there is a good chance I build it.
