Built specifically for ADHD and social anxiety Not general wellness. Not productivity for high performers. Specifically designed for the neurological reality of executive dysfunction and anxiety-driven avoidance. Most mental health and productivity apps were built on the assumption that users have the cognitive bandwidth to engage. They ask questions, prompt reflection, suggest journaling, and offer menus of options. The core differentiator is directive output, not prompts.

What inspired me to build ClearStep? Honestly, frustration. I kept downloading productivity and mental health apps that were supposed to help me, and every single one asked me to journal, reflect, set goals, or choose from a list of options. But when your brain is overwhelmed, that is exactly the problem. You cannot think clearly enough to engage with a tool that requires you to think clearly. I wanted something that just told me what to do. One thing. Right now. No questions back. When I could not find that app, I decided to build it. ClearStep is designed for the moment when your brain has nothing left. You tap how you feel, and it gives you one concrete action. That is it. No menus, no journaling prompts, no habit streaks to maintain. If you have ever stared at a to-do list and felt more paralysed after opening it, this was built for you. Would love to hear from anyone who relates to this. What does overwhelm look like for you, and what has actually helped?

Comment highlights

Finally something that doesn't expect me to "check in" or fill out a mood log before doing anything useful. Got a clear next step right away instead of another menu.

Love that this skips the whole "what's the best word for how you feel" menu dance that always makes me close the app. One thing I'd find genuinely useful is letting me set a location-based nudge so when I actually walk into the grocery store it pulls up the next step instead of hiding it behind me remembering to open the app.
