Clearcan
Free private document scanner with unlimited on-device OCR
Clearcan scans documents on your iPhone and reads every page on-device: unlimited OCR, search inside your scans, copy text, export as PDF, images or TXT. Combine documents, extract pages, share only what you pick, save to Photos, flag what matters, back up locally. No ads, no subscriptions, no account, and nothing ever leaves your phone.
Hi Product Hunt, I'm Ion, a solo developer.
I built Clearcan because most scanner apps are free to download but charge for the useful part: OCR behind a subscription, ads between scans, watermarks on PDFs, and your documents uploaded to someone's server.
Clearcan does all of it on your iPhone, for free. Unlimited OCR on every page, search by the text inside your scans, and nothing leaves the device.
We were here a few months ago with v1.1. Since then it has grown a lot: v1.7.0 adds combining documents, extracting pages, sharing only the pages you choose, TXT export and Save to Photos, on top of flags and filters, local backup and dark mode.
I'd love honest feedback: what's missing, what feels clumsy, what you'd want next. I read every comment.
