What inspired me to build Clancion was honestly my own experience with the job market.
I’ve spent a lot of my career leading technology teams, hiring people, reviewing resumes, and sitting on the other side of the interview table. Then I found myself back in the job market and got to experience firsthand just how frustrating the process has become.
I was spending a ridiculous amount of time finding roles, figuring out whether I was actually a strong match, adjusting my resume for ATS systems, keeping track of different versions, and managing applications. Even with a lot of experience, there were times I'd look at a job and think, *"I should be a great fit for this,"* only to apply and hear absolutely nothing.
That was really the problem I wanted to solve.
Clancion started with a pretty simple idea: **Can I build something I would actually want to use during my own job search?**
CareerPilot grew out of that. Instead of simply generating a resume with AI, I wanted it to understand the resume you already have, compare your real experience against a specific position, identify gaps and strengths, help optimize it for that opportunity, and eventually track the application through the entire process.
The approach has evolved quite a bit while building it. Originally, I was thinking mostly about resume optimization. But the more I used what I was building, the more obvious it became that optimizing a resume was only one piece of the problem.
It became resume analysis → job matching → tailoring → application tracking, with more planned from there.
I've also been very intentional about one thing: **AI should help people communicate the experience they actually have, not invent experience just to match a job description.** I want Clancion to help someone present themselves better, understand where they really stand, and spend their time pursuing opportunities where they have a legitimate shot.
I'm building this while experiencing the exact problem I'm trying to solve, which has probably influenced Clancion more than anything else.
It's still early, and there's plenty I want to add, but that's also what makes launching it exciting. This isn't something I dreamed up in a conference room. It came from a problem I was personally tired of dealing with.
