Hey Product Hunt! I'm Michael, a 24 year old college student who built CityRep because I was tired of travel content that only shows one side of the story.
The idea came from a TikTok — saw a beautiful city I'd never heard of and wondered how many more places like that exist that nobody talks about. Then I started thinking — when I want to know what a city is really like, whose opinion do I actually trust? Not an influencer on a sponsored trip. Not a travel blogger staying at a free hotel. A real person, with a real budget, who paid their own way.
So I built a place where you can find exactly that. Filter by tourist or local. See ratings broken down by category. Find someone who traveled on the same budget as you.
It's also useful beyond tourism — people considering relocation or digital nomad visas can filter by local reviews specifically to see what residents actually think before making a life decision. That perspective doesn't exist anywhere else.
The whole thing cost $40 to build. Claude Code did the heavy lifting.
