We're a small team from Italy, and we built CiaoShorts because we were spending more time editing videos than creating them. Turning long videos into Shorts, adding subtitles, and formatting everything for different platforms was taking hours.
Our goal wasn't to replace video editors, but to automate the repetitive parts of the process and make creating short-form content much faster.

Dropped a 45 minute podcast in and got three clean vertical clips with subtitles in under two minutes. The auto-crop actually followed the speaker instead of just centering on the original frame, which is more than I expected.
Dropped a 40 minute podcast in and it pulled out three solid clips with subtitles already burned in, that part genuinely surprised me. The cropping stayed on faces even when people moved around a lot.
One thing I'd love is the ability to tweak the auto-selected clips before exporting. Sometimes the AI picks a moment that's close but not quite the hook I want, so a simple trim or preview option before the final render would save me from re-running the whole thing.
The auto-cropping for vertical video looks impressively tight, especially how it keeps the speaker centered without awkward headroom. Animated subtitles that don't feel tacked on is a nice touch too.
Honestly I was skeptical about the auto subtitle thing but it actually picked up the punchy lines from a 40 min podcast pretty well. Cropping was solid too on my weird wide angle test clip.

The automatic moment selection is genuinely impressive, it actually picks lines that have punch instead of just random mid-sentence cuts. That alone saves hours compared to scrubbing through footage manually.
The subtitle styling looks solid from what I can tell. One thing I'd love is a built-in hook score or virality prediction per clip, so I know which moments are most likely to perform before I post them.
