ChromeChat is built entirely on Chrome's Prompt API,
Google's built-in interface that runs Gemini Nano locally
in the browser.
The Prompt API only became an official Origin Trial in late
2025, so the ecosystem is still tiny. ChromeChat is one of
the first full chat interfaces built on top of it.
The catch: you need Chrome 148+, a GPU with 4GB+ VRAM and
~4GB free. But once set up, it work offlin
