Chesspoly
Chess with an economy: earn coins, build your army
Chesspoly is a strategy game where every match starts with a lone king and 3 coins. Move non-king pieces to earn coins, spend them to build your army, and find checkmate. Play online, against the computer, or together.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
Chesspoly starts with a question: **what if a chess match began before either army
existed?**
Both players begin with a lone king and 3 coins. Every turn is one action. Move a
non-king piece to earn a coin, move your king for safety, or spend coins to deploy a new
piece onto an open starting square. The pieces still move the way chess players expect,
but the opening becomes an economy: save for a queen, build quickly with pawns, or shape
an army around the position in front of you.
You can play:
- online through Quick Match or a private room code;
- against the computer at three difficulty levels; or
- pass-and-play with someone beside you.
The coins are only an in-game strategic resource—there are no coin purchases, ads, or
pay-to-win mechanics. Accounts are optional, so it is easy to try as a guest.
Under the hood, one Rust rules engine powers every client. That keeps legal moves,
purchases, check, checkmate, and replays consistent across the web and native app.
I would especially love feedback on two things:
1. How quickly does the king-economy idea click after your first game?
2. Which opening purchases create the most interesting trade-offs?
Thanks for taking a look—and if you play, tell me what army you built first.
